Being on a Vancouver Condo Strata Council is a Thankless Job

Ian Watt video blogs about how being on a Vancouver Condo Strata council is a thankless job and how making an incentive for those who volunteer might bring out more candidates. Ian Watt: Hi, Good Morning! It's Ian Watt in Downtown Vancouver. Right now I wanted to talk to you about strata. And the Strata Corporation are I think you call it the Homeowner's Association in the United States. In Vancouver we called it Strata and the Strata Council. Now being on Strata Council is got to be the most thankless job ever but it's great that people do it. But it's a lot of work you don't get paid for and it really is a handful of people that are trying to do all the right things for the betterment of your property. Now what I'm suggesting if your on Strata Council and your having an upcoming strata council AGM. What I suggest is you do this: You suggest that whoever wants to volunteer coz' you don't get a lot of people putting up their hands out of 250 in the council. But or in the strata, but what I'm saying whoever own a Strata Council should have their strata maintenance fees cut by 50% for the year. It's only 5 or 7 people but man that would make a little bit of a thank you for the thankless job that they do. My name is Ian Watt. You can always email me at ianwatt@ianwatt.ca. Thank you very much and have a great day!
